ZOOM JOB INTERVIEWS | one-eyed monster

As if job interviews weren’t scary enough, now you MUST face ‘cyclops’

I’ve watched my recorded interview coaching sessions and here are some observations and advice I have summarised to help those facing video interviews (Zoom, MS Teams)

LOOK INTO MY EYE (camera)

It’s difficult, but makes it makes a huge difference to look into the camera lens when talking. Most people tend to drift and look at the interviewers on the screen. By all means, glance at the interviewer to check they are not asleep. Also, avoid obsessing about your own screen (I find this hard)

DURACELL BUNNY LASTS LONGER

Work hard to get your energy across, right to the end of the job interview! You MUST put huge emphasis on non-verbal communications and tone of voice

MORE LIKE A ZUMBA SESSION

Zoom sessions are exhausting, so you must be physically and mentally ready

THEY LIKE YOU, I PROMISE

Zoom calls can feel unfriendly and distant. Don’t panic! Keep smiling and maintain positivity throughout

TIP: Try recording yourself and review performance, it’s very insightful
